NAPEC 2017 – Oran, Algeria, 21st-24th March
The NAPEC 2017 (North Africa Petroleum Exhibition & Conference) took place in Oran, a big city located in the east of Algeria, with an important port. Most of the downstream activities of Sonatrach take place in the chemical complex of Arzew, far nearly 60 km from Oran. In this area Sonatrach has one refinery, three gas liquefaction complexes, one LNG port and other chemical plants.
The number of visitors was slightly lower than the previous years, nevertheless most of the people met by Allied Group were exactly engineers and procurement managers of the these chemical plants.
The feedbacks and information gained from NAPEC 2017 are very interesting. At first, Sonatrach has confirmed the growth of the investments in the gas facilities, to improving the short-term production in 2017 and 2018. Moreover Allied Group has further strengthened the relationships with the top management and the new CEO of Sonatrach. At last, unlike many exhibitors from the Far East, most of them traders, Allied Group has gathered a very strong interest both in commercial (new requests of quotation, qualified candidacies for a local agency/distribution) and strategic terms (investments in the Algerian market).
